Trent Alexander-Arnold's Transfer Saga 'Settled' as Liverpool’s Private Talks Leak

Liverpool fans have been anxiously waiting for clarity on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, and it seems the situation has finally been resolved. Reports claim that the England international has agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season, bringing an end to his long spell at Anfield.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland, Alexander-Arnold has reached a full agreement with Real Madrid after months of negotiations. The 26-year-old is set to sign a lucrative five-year contract worth £12.5 million per year, along with a signing bonus described as being equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee.

Real Madrid had previously made a £20 million offer in January, but Liverpool rejected it, hoping to convince their star right-back to extend his stay. However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he now looks set to leave on a free transfer.

While fans may still be processing the shock of Trent’s impending departure, Liverpool are already making moves to find his replacement. New manager Arne Slot has reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong as the ideal candidate to take over at right-back.

Slot is said to have personally called Frimpong’s representatives, holding frequent discussions about a potential move. Leverkusen are reportedly demanding £42 million for the Dutch defender, and Liverpool are preparing an offer in that range.

Despite the reports of his future being settled, Alexander-Arnold remains focused on finishing the season strong with Liverpool. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury suffered in Liverpool’s Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain but hopes to return before the end of the campaign.

With Liverpool sitting 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games remaining, the right-back is determined to help the team win the title one last time before leaving.

Speaking to CNN Sports, Trent acknowledged the intensity of the title race, saying:

“Every game is almost like a final now. A certain other team looks like they’re clicking into gear, which means it’s going to go down to the wire as usual. Every game is a must-win.”
