Reports: Chelsea Ready to Offload Midfielder Just a Year After Signing Him as Premier League Rivals Show Interest
Chelsea are reportedly ready to part ways with Joao Felix this summer, as they look to balance their finances and make room for new signings. Aston Villa has shown interest in signing the Portuguese forward, but the deal may not be straightforward.

Felix officially joined Chelsea in the summer of 2024 from Atletico Madrid for €52 million on a seven-year contract. However, his time at Stamford Bridge has been far from successful. Under coach Enzo Maresca, Felix struggled to get regular playing time, making just three starts in 20 appearances across all competitions.

Due to his limited role in the squad, Chelsea sent him on loan to AC Milan in January 2025, hoping he could regain his form. However, things haven’t gone well in Italy either, as Felix has only managed one goal and one assist in 10 games.

This is not the first time Felix has played for Chelsea. He previously had a six-month loan spell at the club during the 2022-23 season, scoring four goals in 16 games. In total, he has recorded 11 goals and two assists in 40 matches for the Blues.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are eager to sell Felix permanently this summer. The club believes his departure will help them stay within financial regulations and allow them to bring in a new striker.

Aston Villa is one of the clubs interested in signing the forward, but his high wages could be a major obstacle. The Villans will also have to consider the future of their current attacking options, including Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford and PSG’s Marco Asensio, before making a move for Felix.

Meanwhile, AC Milan have no interest in keeping Felix beyond his loan spell, as he has failed to make a big impact in Serie A. With Chelsea already having enough attacking options, it seems unlikely that Felix will have a future at Stamford Bridge.

As things stand, Chelsea are determined to sell Joao Felix this summer, but where he will go remains uncertain. If Aston Villa can overcome the financial challenges, they could become his next club. However, Felix’s high wages and inconsistent performances could make it difficult for Chelsea to find a buyer.
