Manchester City defender Ruben Dias says the team is getting better and ready to fight for trophies again, even after a tough season.
City have had a hard time this year. Injuries hit the team hard starting last October, and their results got worse. They lost 15 out of 30 games across all competitions from October to March — as many losses as they had in the three years before that!
Because of this, many people thought City’s best days were over. But Dias says those people are wrong. He says the players who stayed and fought during the tough times showed great effort and shouldn’t be doubted.
“People talk a lot but don’t always understand what’s really happening,” Dias told the Manchester Evening News. “We had many injuries, and some players had to play in positions they’re not used to. But they worked hard, and everyone should appreciate that.”
City have made some new signings in January to help the team, but Pep Guardiola still trusts many of the players who were with the club during the hard times.
Now, the team is on a good run. They haven’t lost in seven of their last ten games and will soon play Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
The FA Cup is important to City. Winning it would show they are back on track after a difficult season.
Dias said, “We don’t feel weak. We take one game at a time. This final is very important, especially after the season we had. We want to win the trophy. We know how great it feels to lift the FA Cup.”
With injuries easing and the whole team available, Dias believes City are becoming “very dangerous” again.
He added, “When everyone is fit, the team is stronger, and we can really challenge for trophies.”
City’s goal now is to finish in the top five of the Premier League to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. They also want to win the FA Cup and prepare well for the Club World Cup in the United States next month.
Despite a difficult season, Ruben Dias and the players are confident that Manchester City will soon be back at the top.
