Mohamed Salah’s Post-Match Comments Spark Debate – Was He Taking a Dig at Erling Haaland?
Salah’s words after Liverpool’s win at Bournemouth raise eyebrows, leaving fans wondering if he was subtly mocking Haaland's “stay humble” message.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was the hero once again, scoring both goals in a crucial 2-0 win over Bournemouth that kept the Reds at the top of the Premier League table. However, it wasn’t just his performance that got fans talking—his post-match comments raised eyebrows, with some believing he took a subtle dig at Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
After the match, Salah spoke to Sky Sports, emphasizing the importance of staying focused.
“We need to stay humble and take each game at a time,” he said.
While this might seem like a normal response, Liverpool fans quickly noticed the phrase “stay humble”—the same words Haaland famously told Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta back in September.
Liverpool supporters wasted no time reacting on social media.
“Mocking Haaland or what?” one fan asked.
Another posted memes of Haaland, while a different fan simply said, “Stay humble, eh?”
Some even claimed Salah has used this phrase multiple times in recent interviews, suggesting he might be making a habit of it.
Whether intentional or not, Salah’s comments have added extra spice to the Premier League title race, with Liverpool and Man City battling for the top spot.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot was full of praise for Salah after the match, especially for his second goal.
“Maybe that second goal was the difference between the two teams,” Slot said. “It was not an easy chance, and he puts it in the net, but it shows you how much quality he has.”
Meanwhile, Haaland’s original “stay humble” comment has been back in the spotlight as City prepare to face Arsenal again. Martin Odegaard, Arsenal’s captain and Haaland’s international teammate, defended him, saying:
“In football, emotions run high, and things happen on the pitch. But after the game, it’s all forgotten.”
