"Maresca’s Football Mind is Light Years Ahead!" – Levi Colwill Makes Bold Maresca Statement and Shares Why He Feels Lucky to Play Under Him
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has praised manager Enzo Maresca, making an ambitious claim about the Italian coach’s tactical skills. Despite Chelsea’s struggles the young defender continues to admire his manager and is glad for the opportunity to learn under him.

Maresca arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, taking over from Mauricio Pochettino after leading Leicester City to the Championship title. The Italian made an impressive start, guiding Chelsea to second place in December and keeping them in the title conversation. However, things have become tougher since then, with Chelsea winning just three of their last 11 Premier League games.

Despite this dip in form, Colwill has been a key player under Maresca, regularly partnering with Wesley Fofana in Chelsea’s defense. His performances have faced some criticism recently, but he remains confident in his manager’s methods.

Speaking to BBC Football Focus, Colwill praised Maresca’s footballing intelligence, saying:

“I think with Maresca, the way he thinks about football is light years above everyone else.”

Colwill also acknowledged how fortunate he feels to be under Maresca’s guidance:

“Of course, I have been blessed with loads of different managers that have been amazing. He is pushing me to understand football in a different way. That’s why I’m very blessed to play football under him and learn as much as possible.”

At just 22 years old, Colwill is still growing as a player, and Maresca’s tactical approach seems to be shaping his development. However, Chelsea now faces a crucial end to the season, with pressure mounting on the 45-year-old manager.

The Blues are still fighting for Champions League qualification, and there is also an expectation for them to win the UEFA Conference League, where they are seen as the favorites. With Chelsea’s history of high expectations and quick managerial changes, Maresca will need to deliver strong results to secure his future at the club.
