Maresca Tells Critics to ‘F Off’ After Chelsea’s Vital Win Secures Champions League Spot

Enzo Maresca didn’t hold back after Chelsea secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on the final day of the Premier League season — a win that confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League.
The Blues may not have played their best football at the City Ground, but Levi Colwill’s goal early in the second half was enough to earn all three points. With Aston Villa losing 2-0 at Manchester United, Chelsea took advantage and climbed into the top four, capping off a rollercoaster campaign with European qualification.
While Maresca celebrated the achievement, he also used his post-match press conference to fire back at critics who doubted his young squad throughout the season.
“I didn’t have any doubt about the players. The doubt was from outside,” said the Italian manager. “All the ones that have the answers — they were saying we are too young, not good enough, and were waiting for Aston Villa to drop points. They said we couldn’t win here because of our lack of experience.”
Then, in a moment that caught many off guard, Maresca added: “So in English, how you say? F off to all of them. Because the players deserve that. The effort they’ve put in is fantastic.”
The 44-year-old, who could end his first season at Stamford Bridge with a
European trophy when Chelsea face Real Betis in the Conference League final, praised the mentality of his players.
“They are a fantastic group. Good boys, hard workers, and always trying to help each other. I feel proud to be a part of their improvement this season.”
Chelsea captain Reece James echoed his manager’s emotions — though with a bit more restraint — in his interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It is an amazing feeling,” James said. “So many people didn’t believe in us. They said we were too young, inexperienced, and weren’t going to make it. But we’re here.”
Reflecting on a season of ups and downs, James added: “We had to dig in today. The season has been long and tough, but we came together when it mattered. Now, we’ve got another final and our eyes are on the prize.”
