"He Was Overly Criticized!" – Ally McCoist Defends Former Chelsea Coach and claims he wasn't given time
Chelsea legend backed by Ally McCoist, who insists he was unfairly criticized and deserved more time to prove himself.
Former Scotland international Ally McCoist has spoken out in defense of Frank Lampard, claiming the former Chelsea manager was unfairly criticised during his previous coaching jobs.
McCoist, now a respected football pundit, believes that Lampard deserved more credit for his efforts at Chelsea and Everton, and he has now proven his managerial quality with his impressive work at Coventry City.
Chelsea secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League, a result that boosted their hopes of securing a top-four finish.
Despite Cole Palmer missing a first-half penalty, Enzo Maresca’s side held on for a vital three points. Maresca, however, once again warned his players about following his strict passing tactics, threatening to substitute anyone who disobeys his instructions.

Speaking to talkSPORT BET via The Metro, McCoist shared his thoughts on Lampard’s coaching career, particularly his revival at Coventry City, where he has transformed the club from relegation strugglers to Play-Off contenders in the Championship.
“Rangers should have gone for Frank Lampard before he went to Coventry,” McCoist said.
“I’ve said this for a while. I think he could’ve been like Steven Gerrard in the way that they come to the club with the hunger to succeed.
He was overly criticised for some of the results at his previous jobs, but now he looks to have found his feet.”
McCoist, a lifelong Rangers supporter, believes Lampard could have done a great job at Ibrox, just as Gerrard did before moving to Aston Villa.
After his difficult spells at Chelsea and Everton, Lampard now seems to be rebuilding his reputation as a manager at Coventry.
Given his legendary status at Stamford Bridge, some fans believe it’s only a matter of time before Lampard gets another chance at Chelsea—this time, with more experience under his belt.
