"He has to go"—Manchester United star told to Leave club after bust-up with Rúben Amorim and slammed for ‘whingeing and whining’

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has been told to pack his bags and leave Old Trafford this summer following a reported fallout with new manager Rúben Amorim.

The 2024/25 season was one to forget for the Red Devils. United finished 15th in the Premier League – their worst-ever showing – collecting just 42 points and scoring only 44 goals all season. After Erik ten Hag’s exit, Amorim was brought in with high hopes, but the transition from his successful style at Sporting CP didn’t go as planned.

Now, the fallout from United’s nightmare campaign continues, and Garnacho, once seen as one of the club’s brightest young stars, is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Former Manchester United and Scotland star Gordon Strachan hasn’t held back. Speaking to Esports Insider, Strachan made it clear he believes Garnacho’s behaviour this season has crossed the line – and that a fresh start away from the club may be best for both sides.

“Garnacho’s got to go,” Strachan said. “He shows a lack of maturity and needs a real wake-up call. Manchester United are far too good of a club to listen to him whingeing and whining all the time.”

Strachan also questioned Garnacho’s attitude after the team’s Europa League final loss. Instead of supporting his teammates, Garnacho reportedly focused on self-promotion.

“If he doesn’t want to be a team player, then I think it’s best he just goes somewhere else,” he added. “The manager decides who plays, and if you’re not picked, you need to look in the mirror and ask why.”

Sources claim that Amorim, in front of the entire United squad, told Garnacho he’s free to find a new club. The decision appears to be based more on the winger’s attitude off the pitch than his actual performances on it.

While Garnacho did have flashes of brilliance throughout the season, his relationship with Amorim has reportedly deteriorated, making a summer exit more likely than ever.

Should Garnacho leave, United are expected to reinvest the funds into strengthening other areas of the squad. With Wolves forward Matheus Cunha nearing a move to Old Trafford for around £60 million, Garnacho’s departure wouldn’t necessarily require a direct replacement on the left wing – especially with the likes of Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo capable of filling in.

Cunha, who played his best football on the left side of a front three at Wolves, could seamlessly slot into Garnacho’s role if needed. However, many believe United will still pursue another forward to add more attacking options.

Garnacho’s future at Manchester United is looking uncertain. What was once seen as a bright journey filled with potential has been clouded by attitude concerns and off-field drama.

If the 19-year-old does depart, it would mark a disappointing end to what could have been a promising United career. But with the club aiming for a rebuild after their worst-ever Premier League season, tough decisions must be made – and for Garnacho, that could mean the end of the road at Old Trafford.
