"He Doesn’t Like Defending, But He Did It for the Team" — Alisson Praises on of his teammate's Hard Work in Liverpool’s Win Over Bournemouth
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker hails Mohamed Salah for his defensive efforts and crucial goals in their dominant victory over Bournemouth.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker had special praise for Mohamed Salah after the Reds secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Bournemouth in the Premier League. Salah scored both goals in the match, including a cool penalty and a stunning curling shot, but it wasn’t just his attacking play that caught Alisson’s attention—it was his defensive work too!
Liverpool’s strong performance at the Vitality Stadium helped them move nine points clear at the top of the table, with the team keeping their 10th clean sheet of the season. Bournemouth had been in excellent form, scoring nine goals in their previous two league games, but Liverpool’s defense, including some key saves from Alisson, made sure they left with all three points.
Alisson spoke highly of Salah’s work rate, especially in helping the team defend when needed. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:
“Salah knows how important he is for the team when he scores goals like these, but we also have to highlight all his hard work in defense today. It’s something he doesn’t usually like to do, but he did it for the team. And not just him—everybody worked hard, and that’s why we got this great result.”
Liverpool needed to be at their best because Bournemouth played with great intensity. Alisson explained how difficult it was to break down their aggressive pressing style:
“If you look at the stats, they are one of the top teams for running and intensity. They don’t let players turn or receive the ball easily. You have to stay focused and sharp in every moment. It takes a lot of energy to win these kinds of games.”
The Brazilian shot-stopper also noted that this season’s Premier League is tougher than ever, with every team fighting hard against the top clubs. He added:
“Every team is giving trouble to the top six. From now on, every game is a challenge. These teams are hungry to take points from the big clubs, so we need to keep playing with the same spirit, taking it step by step, and focusing on our next challenge.”
While Alisson was praising Salah, the Egyptian forward also had kind words for his teammate. Salah called Alisson’s performance “incredible” and emphasized how important he is to the team.
“He knows how important he is for us. We’ve been together for six or seven years here, and I was with him for two years in Rome as well. We know each other very well. He works very hard, and so does the entire defense, so I’m happy for them.”
