Mikel Arteta Confirms Arsenal Exit for Four Stars as Summer Rebuild Begins Immediately

Mikel Arteta has made it clear that Arsenal’s summer rebuild will begin immediately after confirming that four players will leave the club following their final Premier League match of the season.

The Gunners ended their season on a very well with a 2-1 win over Southampton at St Mary’s, securing second place in the table for the third season in a row. While the win brought smiles to the faces of fans and players alike, Arteta admmitted that there’s still a lot of work to be done to push his team one step further next season.

Arsenal’s title charrge this year was filled with injuries to key attacking players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz. As a result, the team finished the season without a single player hitting double digits for goals – something that hasn’t happened in over 100 years at the club.

One of the rare bright spots during the final game came from an unlikely source – Kieran Tierney. The left-back, who is expected to return to Celtic this summer, signed off in style with a goal in what appears to be his last game for the Gunners.

Arteta confirmed after the match that Tierney, along with Jorginho and loan signings Raheem Sterling and goalkeeper Neto, would be leaving the club.

“It was important to win, and it was important to say goodbye to a few players who have been part of our journey,” said Arteta.

“Kieran has been with us for six years. Jorginho, Neto, Raheem – we are saying thank you to all of them. They’ve given everything, and we wish them the very best.”

Tierney had told his teammates ahead of the game that he planned to score, and he delivered on that promise. “He said yesterday, ‘I’m going to score in my last game,’ and he did,” Arteta added.

As the team heads into the off-season, Arteta is already looking ahead to what comes next.

“It’s time to reflect, reset, and get our energy back. It’s been a tough and demanding season, but we’ve kept pushing until the very last day. The culture and mindset at this club have helped us perform at the highest level with the resources we’ve had – and that’s something to be proud of.”
