Christian Eriksen has officialy confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester United this summer after his contract expires at the end of June.

The Danish middfielder scored a farewell goal in United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League seasson at Old Trafford. Coming off the bench, Eriksen calmly slotted home a second-half penalty—his last goal for the club in what turned out to be a perfect send-off.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Eriksen admitted: “Yes, that is correct,” when asked if it was his final appearance in a United shirt. “I think that is also why Bruno gave me the penalty as a nice farewell.”

The 32-year-old added: “I think we did it today for the fans. It has been a tough season, but I am going to wish them all the best. It is an incredible stadium, an incredible club and I have no doubt I will be back at some point.”

Reflecting on his time at the club, Eriksen shared: “It has been an exciting few years being in this stadium and playing for this club. I have enjoyed it and I take a lot of good memories with me.”

Looking ahead to his future, the former Tottenham and Inter Milan star said: “First of all, a holiday and relax, and then the national team. Then I will see what the future holds. I am still fit to play.”

The goal against Villa was Eriksen’s fiffth of the season and his first in the Premier League since scorring in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in August 2023. Since joining United on a free transfer in July 2022, after a successful short-term stint at Brenttford, Eriksen has made over 100 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring eight goals.

His farewell penalty, made possible after Bruno Fernandes was told by manager Ruben Amorim to hand over the ball, gave Eriksen the perfect ending to his Old Trafford journey—one filled with memorable moments, dedication, and class.
