"We HAVE to Get Victor Osimhen" – Chelsea Just One Call Away from Signing Star Striker, Says John Obi Mikel
Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel urges the club to act fast, claiming Victor Osimhen is ready to join and calling the striker a perfect fit who "bleeds blue" and dreams of wearing the shirt.
Chelsea might finally be about to solve their long-running striker problem — and it could only take a phone call and a few days. That’s the message coming from club legend John Obi Mikel, who is urging his former club to go for the Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer.
After Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Manchester United on Friday night — an important result in the club’s efforts to secure a top-four finish — attention has already shifted to the summer transfer market. And at the top of Chelsea’s shopping list is a proven, world-class number 9.
Since Diego Costa left Stamford Bridge in 2017, Chelsea have struggled to find a consisttent striker who can lead the line and score goals regularly. The club has tried several options — from Alvaro Morata to Romelu Lukaku — but none have managed to fill Costa’s boots.
The 25-year-old Nigerian has been in electric form for Napoli, scoring 28 goals in 33 games last season and playing a major role in their Serie A title win — their first in over three decades. His power, speed, and goal-scoring instincts make him one of the most dangerous strikers in Europe today.
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel made a passionate case for Osimhen to join the Blues during a recent episode of his podcast.
“We HAVE to get Victor Osimhen,” said Mikel. “It will be a disaster if he ends up at another club. He’s been on fire, the hunger he plays with, the goals, the assists — he is tailor-made for us.”
Mikel revealed that Osimhen has been a Chelsea fan since childhood and idolized club legend Didier Drogba growing up.
“Victor supported us as a kid. His idol is Drogba. He bleeds blue. He wants to play for us. I’ve done all I can — it’s now down to the club,” Mikel added.
Osimhen is more than just a goal-scorer. He’s strong in the air, quick on the ground, and clever with his movement. He presses defenders, creates chances, and isn’t afraid to put in the hard work off the ball.
His stats speak for themselves:
- 28 goals in 33 games for Napoli last season
- 6 assists
- 4 Champions League goals
- Over 80 goals for Napoli since joining in 2020
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is looking for a striker who can lead the line with confidence and link up with creative players like Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez. Osimhen would bring exactly that — and more.
