"I Was Frustrated"—Amad Diallo Breaks Silence on Man Utd Snub and Sends Clear Message Ahead of Europa League Final

Amad Diallo has opened up about a difficult moment in his Manchester United journey as he reflects on a season that has seen him go from the fringes to one of Ruben Amorim’s most important players.

The 22-year-old winger has been a standout star since Amorim arrived at Old Trafford, but he admits the path hasn’t been easy – especially during a frustrating period earlier this campaign.

Amad, signed during Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s reign, was once seen as one of the brightest attacking talents in Europe. But a lack of consistent minutes under former manager Erik ten Hag nearly stalled his progress, despite a flying start to the season that saw him win United’s Player of the Month award in August.

It was during a Europa League clash against Fenerbahce that his frustration boiled over. Amad was visibly annoyed after being left on the bench for most of the match, only getting on after Antony picked up an injury. Even more confusing for fans was Ten Hag’s decision to use defender Noussair Mazraoui in a No.10 role – a position Amad knows well – instead of trusting the young winger.

“I was frustrated,” Amad admitted in a recent interview with MailSport. “Sometimes, maybe you feel you deserve to play, but you don’t. I need game time to show I can play for this club and that frustration can build up.”

Footage from that game even showed club legends Ruud van Nistelrooy and assistant coach Rene Hake trying to calm him down.

Since then, things have changed dramatically under Amorim. Amad is now one of the first names on the teamsheet and is expected to start in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao later this week. Despite his past frustrations, he still holds respect for Ten Hag and what the Dutchman did for his development.

“Honestly, Erik helped me a lot,” he said. “He gave me a lot of advice. Even when I wasn’t playing, he told me to train hard every time. I thank him again for the opportunity he gave me and wish him the best.”

The Ivorian has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 10 goals and registering nine assists, despite missing almost three months due to injury. His pace, creativity, and growing confidence in front of goal have made him a key player in Amorim’s setup.

Yet, Amad knows there’s still more to come. “I believe in my potential,” he said. “I believe I can be one of the best in the world. I just have to give my best every game. I think the manager believes in me too. I’m trying to repay his confidence every time I’m on the pitch.”
