"We Can’t Fix This With Transfers" – Ruben Amorim Reveals Issue Manchester United Must Urgently fix
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has said that improving the players’ mindset and attitude is more important than bringing in new signings this summer. After the club’s worst-ever Premier League season, Amorim believes fixing the team’s mentality is key to turning things around.

United are still in the Europa League and will be hoping to win the trophy to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. That would be a big help financially and also make it easier to convince top players to join the club.

The Red Devils need new players in a few areas — especially a striker, a right wing-back, and a midfielder. But Amorim believes that the problems at the club run deeper than just needing better players.

Speaking after the recent loss to West Ham and in an interview with Sky Sports, Amorim said it’s the mindset of the team and the culture at the club that really needs to be fixed.

“There are some things that we can’t fix just by signing players,” Amorim explained. “It’s the way we think about this club. The belief that we should never lose a match — especially at home — needs to come back.”

Amorim added: “This is more than just transfers. It’s something deeper. We’re working hard to change that.”

Even though fans might not see it right away, Amorim says that big changes are already happening at the club’s training ground in Carrington.

He mentioned that United are improving how the first team and the academy work together and also focusing on discipline and behaviour within the club.

“We are changing a lot of things people can’t see. The way we work here, the way players behave, the connection with the academy — these things matter,” he said.

Amorim admitted he feels “embarrassed” about how the team has performed this season and admitted that something clearly isn’t right.

He said he noticed the issues not from a single moment, but from watching how the team plays and behaves in important matches.

“I’m not just blaming the players. I’m the coach — I’m responsible. But something is clearly wrong with the way we’re playing football,” he said.

United had a chance to build momentum after beating Athletic Bilbao but dropped off again with the West Ham loss. Amorim said the team needs to show more fight and better character in upcoming games — starting with Chelsea.

“We need to focus, play better, and take every game seriously. That’s how we improve,” he said.

Manchester United needs more than just new players to fix their problems. The club must rebuild its identity, develop a stronger mentality, and bring back the winning culture that once made United one of the best teams in the world.
