Cristiano Ronaldo Sends Message to Rasmus Højlund After Manchester United Star Copies His Celebration

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a strong message after Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund copied his famous celebration during Denmark’s 1-0 victory over Portugal in the Nations League quarter-final first leg.

Højlund, who has always admired Ronaldo, scored in the 78th minute to give Denmark a crucial win at Parken Stadium on Thursday night. The goal came after Christian Eriksen missed a first-half penalty, making Højlund the hero of the night.

After the match, Ronaldo took to Instagram to remind everyone that the battle isn’t over yet. He wrote:

“We have 90 minutes to turn around.”

The Portuguese legend also sent a warning to Denmark, saying:

“Roll on Portugal!”

Portugal will now need to win the second leg in Lisbon on Sunday to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive.

Many fans noticed that after scoring, Højlund copied Ronaldo’s iconic celebration. However, the young striker quickly cleared up any misunderstandings.

Speaking to TV2 via Fotbollskanalen, he said:

“I’m playing against the world’s best footballer, my idol, and to score a goal and win the match… it couldn’t be better.”

Højlund made it clear that he meant no disrespect to Ronaldo:

“It’s for my idol. It’s not like I’m mocking him or anything. I’ve just always said that he has a lot of importance to me and my football career.”

He also recalled watching Ronaldo in 2009, when the Portuguese superstar scored a free kick. That moment made him a fan for life.

Højlund also faced his Manchester United teammates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in the match. However, the real test will come in the second leg, where Portugal must overturn the one-goal deficit to advance.

Whoever wins will face either Italy or Germany in the semi-finals this summer.
