Jack Grealish Told What to Do to Revive England Career Under Thomas Tuchel
Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann believes Jack Grealish should leave Manchester City for more game time if he wants to secure a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Jack Grealish has been told that if he wants to regain his place in the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel, he should consider leaving Manchester City. The winger, once a key player for City, has struggled for regular game time due to injuries and competition from new signings like Jeremy Doku.
Despite playing just 33 games in all competitions last season, Grealish was a key part of City’s victory in the 2022–2023 season. He started only six games and did not score in his 16 Premier League appearances. He scored four goals against lower-league opponents Plymouth, Leyton Orient, and Salford in the FA Cup, which was one of his best games.
Due to his lack of playing time and form, Grealish was left out of Tuchel’s first England squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. However, reports suggest that Tuchel admires the winger and is open to selecting him in the future—provided he gets back to his best.
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Grealish’s time at City hasn’t been as successful as expected and that a fresh start could help him revive his career. Speaking to Best Betting Sites, Hamann said:
“He’s been at the club for so long, and while he’s won everything, he hasn’t been a consistent performer. There have been too many long periods where he hardly played or didn’t make a big impact on games. If he wants to go to the 2026 World Cup, he probably has to leave and play regular first-team football.”
Newcastle United legend and former England striker Alan Shearer also weighed in on the situation. He acknowledged that it’s a tough decision for Grealish, but ultimately, the player himself must decide whether to fight for his place at City or seek a new challenge elsewhere.
“It’s really tricky. First, he’ll want to get back into the Man City team. Only he can determine that. We don’t know what’s happening in training, but Pep Guardiola has hinted that Grealish might not be happy with his situation at City.”
As the 2026 World Cup draws near, Grealish must make an important decision. While a move to another team could provide him an important position and a better chance of attracting Tuchel’s attention, staying at Manchester City would mean competing for minutes in a squad rich of attacking talent.
