Chelsea finally found their breakthrough at Parken Stadium, with captain Reece James scoring the opening goal in what has been a tough match.

Chelsea’s first 45 minutes were not very good. The team lacked energy, struggled to create chances, and failed to register a single shot on goal. Manager Enzo Maresca knew something had to change, and at halftime, he made three substitutions to try and turn things around.

James Breaks the Deadlock:

Just minutes into the second half, Chelsea’s attack came to life. Marc Cucurella and Christopher Nkunku, who had just come on, combined brilliantly down the left wing. They worked the ball forward before Nkunku delivered a smart cutback to Reece James.

The Chelsea captain, who was playing in midfield instead of his usual right-back position, struck the ball with precision. It wasn’t the hardest shot, but it was placed so perfectly that the Copenhagen goalkeeper couldn’t keep it out at his near post. A moment of real quality from James, who is enjoying his longest run of fitness in two years.

The goal was exactly what Chelsea needed. It silenced the home crowd and forced Copenhagen to come forward, which could open up more opportunities for Chelsea to attack. After a dull first half, the second period already looks much livelier.
