Manchester City youngster Oscar Bobb has broken his silence about his future at the Etihad Stadium after a tough season that saw his progress slowed down by injury.
The 21-year-old Norwegian was tipped for a breakthrough year after impressing in the 2023/24 campaign. Fans will remember his iconic moment against Newcastle when he scored a last-minute winner after a brilliant pass from Kevin De Bruyne—helping City edge closer to a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Bobb also lit up the pitch during the pre-season and starred in City’s Community Shield win over rivals Manchester United in August 2024. But just days after lifting that trophy, he suffered a serious leg injury in training, halting his momentum completely.
What followed was a frustrating 2024/25 season filled with setbacks. After working hard to recover, Bobb returned to training only to suffer another injury—this time to his ankle—keeping him out for several more months. He finally made his comeback in April, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win against Leicester City.
While City boss Pep Guardiola gave Bobb a few chances to play towards the end of the season, he remained cautious due to the winger’s repeated injuries. The limited playing time has raised questions about whether Bobb should stay at the club or go out on loan next season to get regular minutes.
But Bobb has made his intentions clear.
“Everyone wants to play every week,” he said during an interview while on duty with Norway’s national team. “I wouldn’t have said I wanted to stay at City if I didn’t think it was possible. That’s the plan.”
Despite his limited role, Guardiola still rates the young forward highly. City believe the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup will be a key opportunity for Bobb to show what he can do again and work his way back into the regular first-team setup.
With James McAtee likely to leave the club permanently this summer in search of consistent playing time, Bobb could have a chance to fill that space—if he can stay fit.
City will also be hoping their other young stars like Phil Foden and Rico Lewis can bounce back next season after a disappointing year from some of the club’s homegrown talents.
