🚨 REVEALED: Why Bruno Fernandes Turned Down £200m Al-Hilal Offer

Bruno Fernandes has revealed he turned down a huge money move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal because he still wants to play “at the highest level” and fight for major titles with Manchester United.

The Saudi Pro League side were prepared to offer Manchester United a massive £100 million transfer fee for Fernandes, as well as triple his current wages — a deal that could have earned him around £200 million over three years.

Despite the offer being incredibly tempting and positive talks taking place over the weekend, Fernandes has made it clear that his heart remains at Old Trafford. The 30-year-old midfielder is determined to continue leading United and prove himself on the biggest stages in world football.

“There was an opportunity,” Fernandes told reporters while on international duty with Portugal. “The president [of Al-Hilal] called me and asked if I wanted to go there. They were waiting for me.”

He admitted the move could have been easy, especially with several Portuguese players already playing in Saudi Arabia. But the United captain said he spoke with Portugal coach Ruben Amorim — who encouraged him not to go — and listened to his wife before making his final decision.

“My wife asked me what I wanted to do,” he added. “It would have been easy to move there, but I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles.”

Fernandes also confirmed Manchester United had no interest in selling him, saying: “They don’t need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.”

This summer marks the beginning of Fernandes’ sixth full season at United, and despite a tough campaign where the club recorded their lowest ever Premier League points total, he stood out once again. The Portuguese midfielder scored eight goals and provided 11 assists in the league, showing his importance to the team.

As rumours about his future continue, Fernandes is now focused on helping Portugal in the Nations League, with a semi-final clash against Germany coming up.

“Our season [at United] was very tough, we weren’t able to achieve our goals. That’s a negative,” he said. “I love being here with the national team now. I’m always happy here. I hope we can reach the Nations League final.”

Portugal boss Amorim also gave his thoughts, suggesting Fernandes is still fully committed to Manchester United. “He wants to stay,” Amorim said. “He is saying no to a lot of things but he chose that he wants to win. He needs to be in the best league in the world.”

When asked whether United could really afford to turn down such a big offer, Amorim replied: “We can find another way to win money… sometimes it’s the decision of the player.”

Fernandes still has two years left on his contract with United, and fans will be relieved to hear their captain isn’t ready to walk away — even with hundreds of millions on the table.
